The Pokemon GO 7th Anniversary event gave trainers a chance to get a shiny Mew by completing a new Masterwork Research quest line called All-in-One #151. The cost of accessing this study is US$5 or its equivalent, but not all players are satisfied with its structure. However, a Redditor named SSBGOGETA66 has heard enough complaints.
In a recent Pokemon GO subreddit post, SSBGOGETA appealed to players to complain about the steps required to complete All-in-One research #151. The user posted a meme satirizing players’ complaints and stipulating that they actually have to play the game to get a shiny Mew.
While some fans in the comments agree, other Pokemon GO players have a few objections to SSBGOGETA’s implication that fans don’t want to play the game to get the shiny Mew.
Pokemon GO players discuss difficulties with Shiny Mew’s Masterwork Research
Shiny Mew Masterwork Research primarily tasks players with catching 30 Pokemon of different types. However, another quest to get the shiny Mew is the Pokemon GO trainer’s quest to capture 151 different species and complete the Kanto Platinum medal.
Part of the reason some players are complaining about these prerequisites is because Kantonian Pokemon are region-locked like Kangaskhan, Farfetch’d, Mr. Mime and Tauros, who can only be captured in certain parts of the world.
Pokemon GO Redditors were quick to point out this fact in response to the SSBGOGETA meme.
Other fans pointed out that the legendary Pokemon of the Kanto region are also quite hard to find, even harder now due to recent changes to the remote raid system. Since Legends tend to only appear in raids and research, many players believe that acquiring them is a huge requirement from Niantic.
Despite that, SSBGOGETA made it clear to Pokemon GO players in the comments that they weren’t pointing out an issue with region or Legendary exclusives. Instead, they mock players who complain about simpler quests like catching one creature for 30 days in a row or catching 30 Pocket Monsters of a particular type.
One Pokemon GO player also stipulates that as of 2023, if a trainer hasn’t completed the Kanto Pokedex, they «don’t deserve a shiny Mew.» However, this doesn’t exactly take into account newer players or those living in very remote areas where Pocket Monsters don’t spawn as often.
Furthermore, not every Pokemon GO player spends a lot of time in the game but may still want to take part in the shiny Mew Masterwork Research. It is a misconception that all trainers have the time or will to spend countless hours catching creatures on mobile titles. Not all players are tough, but they still love a shiny Mew.
While area creatures are a problem for some players, SSBGOGETA has shown that many in-game events bring these species to the forefront in some way when the region lock doesn’t work. . This includes Mega Kangaskhan raids and certain times where area-locked creatures are added to the hatchery or as raid bosses or research rewards.
Fortunately, the #151 All-In-One Masterpiece Research has no time limit, meaning players can continue working on it. With the roster of events Niantic offers each year, getting the requisite Kanto species will be more of a test of time and will than anything else.
Furthermore, the in-game trading function and live events offer more opportunities to acquire the Kanto species that some players may be lacking.
No one said this Masterwork Research would be easy, but acquiring a rare creature like the shiny Mew shouldn’t be given to players without much effort on their part.
