Liverpool are back in action after starting pre-season training.
All eyes will be on the expensive new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but there will also be plenty of young players looking to take advantage of the opportunity to influence manager Jurgen Klopp.
Here are some of the academy’s talents who will be looking to stand out.
20-year-old midfielder Tyler Morton has made nine appearances for Liverpool, including starting in both the Premier League and Champions League for the 2021/22 season, so Klopp clearly knows him very well.
Instead of hanging around on the sidelines last season, Morton brought his talent to Blackburn on loan, following the successful path that Harvey Elliott took last season. He started regularly and missed the play-offs due to goal difference.
Midfield is clearly an area Klopp is interested in and Morton is perhaps the first from the academy to leave his mark.
Bobby Clark arrived from the Newcastle academy as a striker and spent his early days at Liverpool as a winger, but he was switched to play in central midfield last season and reaped the rewards. achieved much success at the U21 level.
Klopp made Clark two appearances last season, including once in midfield against Derby County in the Carabao Cup, but could be more interested in the 18-year-old’s talents when he has more experience in this required position.
With Curtis Jones on an extended break following his success with England Under-21s, Clark could have a chance to pull off a push in minutes.
Liverpool are tipped to sign a new left-back to rival Andy Robertson this summer, but Klopp could save himself some money by switching to 19-year-old Luke Chambers.
Chambers is yet to play for the Reds’ first team but was loaned out for the first time at professional side at Scottish struggling club Kilmarnock during the second half of last season.
There are reports of interest from Reds great Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen but Klopp can put his faith in Chambers, who signed a new contract in May.

Melkamu Frauendorf is another who has had a taste of Liverpool’s short life, making two appearances in the past two seasons, but the 19-year-old German spent last season with the Under-21s.
A versatile striker who can play comfortably as a central striker, on the flanks or even in a senior midfield role, Frauendorf is one of the more attractive prospects at the Liverpool academy and Klopp will certainly be well aware of the talent he has.
While Liverpool have an abundant attack, someone with the versatility of Frauendorf could be key to a senior squad that has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. The young German player is ready to fill any void.
Perhaps the star of Liverpool’s young players on loan last season, Conor Bradley made a real impact in League One with Bolton Wanderers.
The right-back, who is used more at full-back, has scored seven goals and six assists in 53 appearances and is unsurprisingly caught the eye of Klopp, who insists The decision is expected to be examined more closely in 20 years. -old this summer.
«Our plan is to bring him back, go to pre-season and then enjoy the steps he’s taken, then we’ll decide together what we’re going to do from there. that time,” Klopp said in April. «Plans are in place at the moment, bring him back and keep him, but we’ll see that.»
Expectations are high for Scottish winger Ben Doak, who joined from Celtic last summer and has made an immediate impact.
Usually positioned on his preferred right flank, Doak scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 27 academy appearances last season and was even rewarded with five appearances for his seniors. Klopp.
The immediate problem for Doak is that Liverpool currently have one of the best right wingers on the planet, Mohamed Salah, but the 17-year-old looks like a potential heir to the Egyptian throne .
Under-21 captain Dominic Corness had a stellar season last year, impressing against Barry Lewtas’ side.
Offering more control and stability than most others on this list, the 20-year-old is a possible backup for Fabinho, who struggled a lot last season and will probably benefit from having some younger legs to relieve stress.
Corness is yet to emerge at a high level but seems to be on the right track, and Klopp may be forced to sit up and take notice this summer.
