I think moreThese days forcing people to buy new phones is definitely just a scam as we know that these OEMs are constantly releasing new phones with 2 year old hardware so that means at least Qualcomm still supports those old chips. But not so long ago it was true and if you are a big brand like HTC or Sony, you cannot hack your software without the proper officially supported drivers from the manufacturers of the components. to sue.

Almost every day there is news about Dutch trash… How much money they have wasted on stupid pr campaigns – misleading about sustainability, environment, labor, etc. All the money they make there is a subsidy from the EU and Dutch governments (!)… Moreover, any 5 year old iphone will blow away any so-called «fair» phone even then is the «new» template… Disgusting, awkward, dumb! ????

I had to install Xubuntu on my old 3rd generation hp core i5 laptop because it couldn’t handle modern rendering on windows 10 and kept lagging despite having 8gb of Ram and SSD.
you have to suffer, 2 hours agoit’s android 14. android 13 works fine with sideloading.Android 14 still loads apps perfectly, they just added a limitation to prevent users from getting apps for older Android versions or in this case Android 6.

I’d rather buy a Pixel for the same amount of money and get software support for a few years, then install a custom ROM on it. If not, just run it without updating. I will not accept poor hardware and slow updates on Fairphone for the same amount as Pixel.
Another point is that Android updates have become meaningless (apart from security updates). I installed Android 14 beta on my Pixel yesterday and it looks similar to Android 12 and 13.

The problem is that the Snapdragon 632 SoC is too weak at this point. Even the 685 that mostly uses the same architecture (just upped the clock speed) is almost twice as fast.

They have to include too many old features and support too many outdated devices. A clean Windows with a version focused on compatibility is much better.

There’s a reason why not so long ago, most Android OEMs only updated their phones for 1 or 2 years at best. That’s because Qualcomm itself has stopped supporting their chips after a year or two and won’t update drivers to support newer versions of Android. Previously, Sony had this problem when they promised to update their customers, but then failed to do so because Qualcomm decided not to provide them with updated drivers anymore.
